Journal business coverage expanding with Sunday Outlook, daily pages
Readers may have remarked that we relaunched our Opinion section this past Sunday to much fanfare. The feedback was overwhelming, and incredibly positive. Following up on that, I’m excited to announce that we will be inaugurating a new daily Business section next Tuesday.
The Journal has an incredibly strong business desk with four reporters — editor Ryan Boetel, deputy editor Megan Gleason and reporters Matt Narvaiz and Allison Carpenter — who combined have over two decades of reporting experience.
We are uniquely positioned to deliver daily breaking news on business across the state and, rather than holding the news into a weekly section, we want to be able to showcase it daily to our readers. The new section, which will keep the Business Outlook branding, will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays with an expanded section on Sundays.
The new Business Outlook daily section will, of course, include our two longtime columnists: Jerry Pacheco, who writes a Business Across the Border column every other week, and Jim Hamill, who writes a column every week called On the Money. And we will be starting new daily features, including a report of how the top 10 stocks important to New Mexico are performing, a daily look at commodities relevant to New Mexico, and regular check ins on municipal bonds and pensions across the state.
Of course our popular weekly Business Outlook podcast will continue and we’ll be adding a daily business newsletter to augment the print coverage.
The Journal has been New Mexico’s leading news source for nearly a century. We aim to be your one-stop shop for all things business and economic development related and we have the most experienced business team in the state to do it.
