Bosque Brewing Co. shutters Santa Fe locations amid Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Bosque Brewing Co. has ceased operations at its Santa Fe locations as part of an effort to restructure the company’s finances amid ongoing bankruptcies.
Effective immediately, the closures hit two Bosque locations in Santa Fe: a bar dubbed The Drinkery at 4980 Promenade Blvd. and a Restoration Pizza restaurant at 1607 Alcaldesa St., Bosque spokesperson Natasha Souther told the Journal on Tuesday.
“This step helps us stabilize operations and strengthen the long-term future of the organization,” Bosque officials said in a statement.
Santa Fe’s Restoration Pizza opened in late 2022 and The Drinkery in 2023, according to company blog posts.
The closures impact three full-time employees and 23 part-time employees, whom Souther said Bosque is meeting with directly to offer information and support.
“These team members have been valued contributors to our company, and we are grateful for the professionalism and hospitality they provided to our guests,” the Bosque statement said.
The closures come weeks after Bosque filed for Chapter 11 protection in October, seeking to remain open while reorganizing its finances amid mounting debt. The Albuquerque-based company listed in the filing $10 million to $50 million in liabilities compared with less than $10 million in assets, according to the petition.
Moreover, two Bosque owners personally filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in November. The bankruptcies halted a court case in which a New Mexico limited liability company filed a complaint against Bosque Brewing Co., stating that Bosque allegedly failed to pay more than $67,000 in rent for property in Santa Fe as of Oct. 1.
In late November, Chief Operating Officer Jess Griego said the personal bankruptcies would not affect the status of Bosque’s Chapter 11 process, and that the brewer was in the process of negotiating leases.
The Santa Fe locations ultimately “did not reach the level of sustainability required to remain open,” Bosque officials said.
Founded in 2012, Bosque is one of New Mexico’s largest brewers, and had earlier this year announced a partnership with Marble Brewery, which is handling the brewing, production and distribution of Bosque’s core beers.
The brewer also recently partnered with Smothered, a brunch restaurant and Bosque brand, to launch a dual-restaurant concept at Bosque’s West Side Albuquerque location. Griego said the creative experiment aims to maximize the company’s resources in hopes of minimizing closures.
Bosque officials said the company will continue serving the Santa Fe market through products sold in stores, restaurants and bars throughout the City Different.
“We remain thankful to the community for the opportunity to serve in the area ... (and) committed to completing this restructuring process with transparency and care so we can continue building a stable and sustainable future for our teams and our guests across New Mexico,” the statement concluded.
