Dunkin' officially open at Sunport
The Dunkin' at the Albuquerque International Sunport is officially open for business.
The nationwide coffee and donut chain was not fully open when the city of Albuquerque unveiled its renovated food hall late last year.
The new food hall also includes Flavor of New Mexico, Rush of Prana and Panda Express.
The food hall was the first phase of a roughly $90 million "Dream of Flight" construction project that is underway in an attempt to rejuvenate the Sunport. More renovations are expected to be unveiled throughout the year.
The project is being funded with Sunport money. It is an enterprise department for the city, which means it makes revenue, according to city officials.
Much of the project was funded with passenger facility charges, which travelers pay when purchasing tickets. The Sunport also gets revenue from airlines, tenants, parking and Federal Aviation Administration support, among other sources.
"We are thrilled to bring Dunkin’ to the Albuquerque International Sunport and offer travelers the familiar comfort of our brand while they navigate their journeys," Shannon Durkin, field marketing manager at Dunkin,’ said in a news release.
