ABQ Nutrition, 649 Old Coors SW
The establishment did not have a certified food protection manager on staff. The facility lacked sufficient hot water, prompting an automatic closure because the handwashing sink only reached 68 degrees and the three-compartment sink only reached 67 degrees. A soiled mop was improperly stored in a closet with the wet mop head facing up and resting against the wall. Water damage was observed on the wall inside the closet where the mop had been improperly hung.

Baskin-Robbins, 5241 Ouray NW (Class A)
Buildup and debris were observed on the floors inside the mobile unit. Light bulbs lacked protective shielding, and various equipment and single-service articles lacked required covers to prevent contamination. The handwashing sink inside the mobile ice cream unit failed to provide sufficient hot water.

Cesar’s Mexican & Greek, 5300 Lomas NE
The chlorine sanitizer used for warewashing failed to meet proper concentration parameters, prompting the person in charge to remake a fresh 100 ppm batch. The ice machine had an extreme buildup of orange organic matter, and a can opener had accumulated food debris. Ready-to-eat foods were found with inappropriate date markings and had to be voluntarily discarded. Plastic condiment bottles containing ranch and Greek dressing in the upright cooler lacked proper identifying labels. Calibration logs for temperature measuring devices were not available.

Dogos VIP, 6125 Montgomery NE
The quaternary ammonium sanitizer solution used for warewashing failed to meet the required temperature and concentration parameters. Red chile meat, cooked meat and beans were not held at 135 degrees or above. Food employees did not possess valid food handler cards or proof of approved food safety training. Observed that the facility was operating with an expired permit. Observed that the food establishment does not have temperature logs available for TCS foods items. Observed a soiled mop not in use, stored directly on the floor. The kitchen walls behind the three-compartment sinks were cracked and had holes, lacking a smooth and easily cleanable surface.

Federico’s Mexican Food, 1109 Juan Tabo NE
Toxic chemicals like Windex and grill cleaner were stored on the same shelf as bottles of juice. Working containers for cleaners and sanitizers, including spray bottles and a wiping cloth bucket, lacked proper labels. Soiled wiping cloths were improperly stored on preparation tables and cutting boards. Ready-to-eat foods, including rolled tacos, tamales and chile rellenos, had no date markings. The establishment did not have a certified food protection manager on staff. Food employees did not possess valid food handler cards. Interior intake and exhaust air ducts in the kitchen area had a buildup of debris. Working containers for spices and sugar in the kitchen were not identified with common names. A shelf behind the front counter was made of absorbent plywood and was not easily cleanable. Raw beef was stored above cheese and raw chorizo was stored above carrots in the walk-in cooler. TCS food items, including fries and tomato sauce, measured above 41 degrees. The facility lacked a designated area for employees to eat, drink or use tobacco. No lockers or suitable facilities were provided for employees’ personal belongings. An employee was observed wearing a wristwatch while actively working with open food. A soiled mop was stored directly on the floor instead of being hung to air dry. There was a buildup of debris on the floor in the dry storage area under the food racks. No written allergen warnings were provided for unpackaged food. The consumer advisory for raw or undercooked animal products (eggs) was inadequate. Food scoops were stored in containers with the handles directly touching the food. Food service pans were stacked together while still wet. There was a hole in the wall of the mop closet caused by a doorknob. The facility failed to maintain temperature logs for TCS food items. The establishment lacked calibration logs for temperature-measuring devices.

Hotel Albuquerque, 800 Rio Grande NW (Class C)
An inadequate air gap was found under the soda machine and in the dishwashing area. The food establishment did not have a certified food protection manager on staff. Working containers of crushed chile flakes, cinnamon, oregano and sugar lacked proper labels. Multiple food items, including chips, beans, carne adovada and various meats, were stored uncovered. The facility did not have quaternary test strips to measure sanitizer concentration. A soiled mop was stored with the mop head against the wall instead of in the mop sink. Debris buildup was observed on the ceiling and on the fire sprinklers. There were holes in the ceiling of the back closet in the prep area hallway. Temperature logs were not maintained for hot holding, cold holding or equipment. The facility lacked calibration logs for temperature-measuring devices.

Red Door Brewing Co., 509 Central NW (Class C)
Encrusted grease and soil deposits were found on the stove top, oven and inside reach-in coolers and freezers. Ready-to-eat items, including sauces, onions, tomatoes, and red chile, were held without date-marking indicators. The establishment did not have a certified food protection manager on staff. An uncovered bowl and an open bag of French fries were stored in the reach-in freezer. The facility lacked a testing kit to measure the concentration of chemical sanitizing solutions. A food employee was observed cooking without a proper beard restraint. The facility was operating with an expired permit. A soiled mop was improperly stored with the mop head resting against the wall and faucet handles. Significant buildup and debris were observed on the floors, walls and ceiling vent covers throughout the kitchen. Nonfood-contact surfaces, including gas lines, door handles and the dishwasher, had visible debris buildup. Physical facilities were in disrepair, featuring holes in the walls and missing ceiling tiles in the kitchen and dishwashing areas. No temperature logs were available for hot holding, cold holding, or refrigeration equipment. The establishment lacked required calibration logs for temperature-measuring devices.

Taco Sal, 9621 Menaul NE
The interior of the ice machine had a brown and yellow buildup. Dried food debris was found on the blades of the fry cutter and the can opener. Employee medications, including Ibuprofen, Aleve and prescriptions, were stored on a kitchen shelf with spices. Soiled wiping cloths were improperly stored on prep tables and cutting boards instead of in a sanitizer. No food items in the upright and prep-top coolers were marked with required dates. The food establishment did not have a certified food protection manager on staff. Food employees were not in possession of valid food handler cards. Debris buildup was observed in the intake and exhaust air ducts in the kitchen, dining room and bathrooms. Working containers of spices lacked proper labels identifying the common name of the food. Raw beef and raw pork were stored on the top rack of an upright cooler above various ready-to-eat foods. The female toilet room lacked a covered receptacle for sanitary napkins. Food temperature-measuring devices were not provided or readily accessible for monitoring thin foods. The facility did not provide a designated area for employees to eat, drink or use tobacco. No lockers or suitable facilities were provided for the storage of employee personal belongings. The bathroom handwashing sink was missing the required handwashing signage. Light bulbs in the kitchen area were missing protective covers or shielding. The facility was operating with an expired permit. Substantial debris buildup was found on the floors and walls throughout the kitchen, particularly under and behind equipment. No written notification of major food allergens was provided for unpackaged food. Food scoops were stored in containers with the handles directly touching the food product. Food service pans were wet stacked in the kitchen prep area instead of being allowed to air dry. Debris buildup was observed on the exterior of all kitchen equipment and the fire suppression system. Single-use containers, such as lard and fried pork rind containers, were being reused to store spices and bay leaves. The facility lacked temperature logs for all TCS food items stored on-site. There were no calibration logs maintained for temperature-measuring devices.
