Gas remains significantly cheaper than last year
The average price for a gallon of gas in New Mexico was $2.99 last week, which was 51 cents less than the same day last year.
Gas prices in the Albuquerque area decreased slightly this week, and prices remain more than 50 cents cheaper than this time last year.
In New Mexico, the average price for a gallon of petrol was $2.99 per gallon, according to AAA New Mexico Weekend Gas Watch.
That price was four cents less than a week ago and 51 cents less than this time last year.
Drivers in Farmington are paying the most, on average, at $3.23 per gallon. Santa Fe has the cheapest gas at $2.86 per gallon.
In Albuquerque, the average price for a gallon of gas on Thursday was $2.92, which was 52 cents than the same day last year.
A gallon of gas in Texas averaged $2.81 per gallon, Colorado drivers were paying $3.24 per gallon on average and gas in Arizona was $3.33 per gallon.
Save another hurricane, AAA New Mexico anticipates gas prices will settle into a typical fall pattern and drivers should see savings in the coming weeks. The switchover to cheaper winter-blend gas is happening, according to AAA.
“Gas prices should begin to settle into the typical pattern we see each autumn season,” AAA New Mexico spokesperson Daniel Armbruster said in a news release.
“Prices usually tend to trend lower thanks to the switchover to the cheaper winter-blend fuel.”
