Lovelace Medical Center taps COO

Mary Armijo has been named the next chief operating officer of Lovelace Medical Center and Heart Hospital of New Mexico. She will start Jan. 6.

Armijo has more than 20 years of health care experience, most recently as COO of the 199-bed Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. Prior to that, she worked for Upper Peninsula Health System in Michigan.

“We are excited to welcome Mary to the Lovelace team, and she will play a key role in enhancing operations and supporting quality care initiatives for the organization,” Brian Miller, CEO of LMC and HHNM, said in a statement. “As we continue advancing healthcare in the region, Mary’s leadership will be an essential piece to building a people-centered healthcare ecosystem.”

She is a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives and was awarded the ACHE Regents Award in 2023, which recognizes members who have made significant contributions to healthcare management excellence and the achievements of the organization's goals.

She has master's degrees in computer information and business administration in healthcare from the University of Phoenix and Western Governors Universities, respectively.
