New Mexico’s first BODYBAR Pilates powers up at Winrock Town Center
The business offers a studio that hosts expert-led classes and a boutique featuring athletic apparel
Winrock Town Center’s newest fitness business is officially up and stretching.
BODYBAR Pilates, a Texas-based fitness franchise with more than 60 locations across the U.S., debuted its first New Mexico location at 2100 Louisiana NE in January. The location features a studio for hosting expert-led classes, state-of-the-art equipment and a boutique that sells athletic clothing, socks and accessories.
“We are really excited to see BODYBAR open,” said Sheila Smith, vice president of leasing and marketing for Goodman Realty Group, the agency behind developing and leasing Winrock. “We feel like it really adds to the activation of that lineup of health, wellness and play.”
BODYBAR joins other wellness-adjacent operations already established at Winrock, including FarmaKeio, National Hispanic Cultural Center, Presbyterian Healthcare Services, TriCore Reference Laboratories and Chuze Fitness.
The local franchise is owned by Albuquerque native Kate Lueker-Eaton, who used Pilates to build her strength during the COVID-19 pandemic. Pilates is a full-body exercise regimen that uses floor mats and sometimes an apparatus to strengthen the body and flexibility through controlled breathing and movements.
“It’s made me stronger physically, and it’s very good for your spinal health,” Lueker-Eaton said. “I’m 51 years old, but I feel like I’m in better shape than I’ve been all my life.”
Lueker-Eaton, also a practicing attorney, discovered BODYBAR online in 2024. She was impressed by the athleticism of the company’s workouts, adding that many of Albuquerque’s other Pilates offerings left her craving more cardio afterward.
“I just felt that we needed something a little bit different, that would offer a more athletic form of Pilates here in Albuquerque,” Lueker-Eaton said. “After taking the BODYBAR classes, I did not need to get that extra cardio in because I felt totally exhausted by the end.”
BODYBAR Pilates ABQ Uptown’s classes can host 14 people. Memberships range from $119 to $229 per month, which includes options of four classes per month, eight classes per month and unlimited classes. The business has signed on a little more than 150 members so far.
People can also purchase class packs, which offer five, 10 and 20 classes for $165, $310 and $600, respectively. The first class is free, and after that, single classes are $35.
Lueker-Eaton said community will play a role in shaping the studio, which she said can also host bachelorette and birthday parties.
The location sits just across the street from Winrock’s 2-acre park and pond venue, which was a major draw for Lueker-Eaton, who already hosted some preopening Pilates classes in the park last summer. She hopes to do more park classes and participate in Winrock’s wellness events this year.
“It feels more like a small town in a lot of ways,” Lueker-Eaton said of Winrock. “I just wanted our members to be able to leave the studio and walk out and enjoy the park, too. It’s a great location.”
Lueker-Eaton plans to expand the studio's class format offerings in March, and she's also eyeing the West Side for another potential location in the coming years.
