NM Film Office director to leave post in early August
The New Mexico Film Office announced Tuesday the departure of its director Amber Dodson.
Dodson served as NMFO director for more than four years. Her last day will be Aug. 2. The NMFO is a division of the Economic Development Department that works to ensure the progress of the state’s film incentive, grow the film, television and digital media industry and expand entertainment economic opportunities for New Mexico businesses and residents, according to a NMFO news release.
NMFO experienced “unprecedented growth” attracting numerous film and television to the state under Dodson’s leadership, according to the news release. That led to job growth for New Mexicans and improved the overall infrastructure of the local industry.
“Serving as director over the past four years has been an honor,” Dodson said in a statement. “I reflect with pride on the collaborative efforts and shared dedication in advancing the film industry in New Mexico to a globally acclaimed production hub.”
Mark Roper, acting secretary for the New Mexico Economic Development Department, said Dodson has been an invaluable asset to the New Mexico film industry.
“She has played a pivotal role in positioning New Mexico as a leading destination for filmmakers and has fostered a thriving creative community,” he said in a statement.
A search for a new director will begin soon. Carrie Wells, NMFO deputy director, will be the point of contact during the transitional period.
“While I embark on a new chapter in my professional journey, my fervent hope, as many of yours, is that the film industry in New Mexico will continue to flourish, bringing forth prosperity and opportunity for our residents, communities and future generations,” Dodson added.
