NM gas drops below $3 gallon
The average price for a gallon of gas in New Mexico dropped below $3 in the last week.
The average cost for a gallon on Thursday was $2.95, which marked a 9 cent drop in average gas price in the last week, according to AAA New Mexico Weekend Gas Watch.
Albuquerque drivers were paying $2.91, a 12 cent drop in the last week. Meanwhile, the national average was $3.13.
Drivers in Farmington were paying the most in the state, at $3.32 on average. Drivers in Santa Fe had the cheapest average cost of petrol, at $2.85 per gallon.
The supply of refined gasoline stocks decreased in the last week but they remain above levels a year ago, according to the Energy Information Administration. Demand for fuel increased in the last week, according to AAA.
“There’s nothing spooky about New Mexico gas prices this Halloween,” Daniel Armbruster, AAA New Mexico spokesperson, said in a statement. “The state gas price average has dipped nine cents since last week and remains below the national average of $3.13 per gallon of regular unleaded.”
