‘No other home like it’: Santa Fe’s ‘House of Triumph’ on the market for $9.5 million

The historic property features three guest casitas, a movie theater, pool and sound studio

Artists from across the world find inspiration in the colors and culture that exist in Santa Fe’s scenery, and the Belloli estate — currently available for $9.5 million — is just one enduring example.

Sitting on the upper historic east side of Santa Fe’s Canyon Road — a stretch known for art galleries and unique residential architecture — the Belloli estate got its name from its original owners and builders, Italian architect Giorgio Belloli and American artist Yolanda Belloli. The pair built the home in the early 1930s.

The Bellolis lived together in the home until they separated in 1947, and Yolanda Belloli remained at the property until she died in 1983, according to research collected by Webster Estates of Sotheby’s International Realty.

The terracotta tile-roofed home — dubbed “Cason del Triunfo,” Spanish for “House of Triumph” — is on its sixth known set of owners. Musician and composer Dean Rogers and his wife Allyson Rogers currently own the home, located at 1379 Canyon Road.

Originally from Texas, the pair settled in Santa Fe more than 10 years ago after their three daughters grew up, drawn by years of family vacations in the city. The pair discovered the historic Canyon Road home with nudges from Santa Fe architect and friend Eric Enfield.

“We knew instantly that it was the one,” Allyson Rogers said.

Today, the home features a blend of original design features from the Bellolis — a grandiose courtyard water fountain and fresco murals on the walls — and fresh additions from recent owners, including custom wrought-iron work on windows and railings and a new office, movie theater, garage and sound studio.

Dean Rogers used the garage as a showcase room for his car collection, which can be seen from the office through a special glass wall, Allyson Rogers said. The studio, also used by Dean Rogers for music recording, is fully functional with sound-insulated walls, she added.

Other property offerings include a pool, hot tub, wine cellar, spacious patios, more than 250 feet of Santa Fe River frontage and landscaped courtyards with sculptures, gardens, flowerbeds and vines galore. The property’s gardener, Hans Khalsa, has been tending to the home’s foliage for more than 30 years.

The House of Triumph has become a gathering place for the Rogers’ parents, kids and eight grandchildren over the years. One of Rogers’ daughters even got married in the home’s courtyard, which Allyson Rogers said was a magnet for other brides, too.

“Sometimes there are brides outside the gate wanting to get their picture made, and when we see them, we invite them in to get their picture in the courtyard,” Allyson Rogers said. “I feel like that’s good luck.”

After years of making memories at the property, the homeowners are seeking to sell the estate to its next caretakers. Chris Webster, a longtime Santa Fe resident and broker, brought the House of Triumph to the market in September.

The home and its three guest casitas span 9,602 square feet, sit on three-quarters of an acre and offer four bedrooms, six bathrooms, as well as what Allyson Rogers described as an “enveloping” quality that “makes you feel like it is part of your life, instead of just a place that you live.”

“There’s just no other home like it,” Webster said.
