There’s a new top doc at the state’s largest health system.
The Presbyterian Healthcare Services Board of Directors announced Thursday that Dr. Rishi Sikka will take over as CEO on Oct. 21.
The current CEO, Dale Maxwell, is retiring after 23 years at Presbyterian.
Sikka, who in 2016 was appointed to Presbyterian’s board, was most recently at Village Medical, which provides primary care services nationally. He has also worked as the president of system enterprises at Sutter Health.
He has practiced emergency medicine and held leadership positions at Advocate Health in Illinois.
“It is an honor to join Presbyterian at this pivotal time in healthcare,” Sikka said in a statement. “I’m deeply inspired by Presbyterian’s purpose — to ensure every New Mexican can achieve their best health — and am fully committed to advancing that mission alongside an incredible team dedicated to providing compassionate, quality care for our communities.”
Presbyterian is a health care system of nine hospitals, a statewide health plan and a multi-specialty medical group.
“Dr. Sikka is a compassionate, innovative physician executive with deep knowledge of complex systems and more than 20 years of leadership experience across the healthcare industry,” Norm Becker, the chair of the board, said in a statement.
