Report: ABQ eye surgery center among best in country
Albuquerque Ambulatory Eye Surgery Center was recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the 2024-2025 Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers for Opthalmology.
It was the inaugural edition of the ranking.
U.S. News partnered with CareJourney and rated nearly 5,000 surgery centers. Some of the metrics included how common complications, emergency room visits, unplanned hospitalizations and other bad outcomes for patients were. Surgery centers couldn’t opt out of being evaluated.
Albuquerque Ambulatory Eye Surgery Center opened in 2002 and its surgeons offer several services, including cataract, retina, glaucoma, cornea and oculoplastics procedures.
“This achievement is a testament to the exceptional quality and unwavering commitment of our staff, surgeons and anesthesia providers,” said Dr. Arthur Weinstein, chairman of the Management Committee of the Albuquerque Ambulatory Eye Surgery Center. “We are dedicated to continuing to strive for excellence and ensure the best outcomes for our patients.”
U.S. News awarded surgery centers the designation “Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers” if the centers met certain requirements.
“This collaboration with CareJourney on U.S. News’ ratings of Ambulatory Surgery Centers provides patients the transparency they deserve,” said Sumita Singh, senior vice president and general manager of Healthcare at U.S. News. “Now, anyone facing an outpatient procedure can make data-fueled, informed choices for numerous possible surgical procedures they may need.”
