The chief executive of one of New Mexico’s largest credit unions has retired.

Marsha Majors stepped down from the role with U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union on Monday. She has been with the company for more than 40 years, celebrating that milestone late last year. Majors became the CEO in early 2013.

Replacing Majors is Michael Moore, the credit union’s executive vice president and chief financial officer. Moore has been with the credit union for more than 16 years.

In a statement announcing her retirement, Majors said it has “truly been an honor to serve our members and work alongside such an amazing team.”

“Together, we have built a credit union that not only serves our communities but also values each and every employee,” she said. “I cannot think of a more fulfilling 40 years than having an impact on the lives of others.”

Under Majors’ leadership, the credit union changed its name in 2015 from U.S. New Mexico Federal Credit Union to U.S. Eagle, complete with new branding. The credit union also launched its cannabis banking arm, Aery Group, in 2019, which quickly became a premier spot for companies in the industry to do business.

However, the credit union also faced its share of challenges under Majors’ purview, including a failed attempt last year to acquire Southwest Capital Bank due to U.S. Eagle’s financial challenges.

With Moore now in the driver’s seat, the credit union has some semblance of continuity for members and employees. According to Moore’s LinkedIn profile, he has been with U.S. Eagle since 2009, first as a financial analyst and then as CFO, starting in 2014.

As president and CEO, Moore will oversee a credit union spanning more than 100,000 members and 300 employees across New Mexico. The Albuquerque-based credit union has 10 branches in central and northern New Mexico.

A spokesperson for the credit union said Majors will support Moore during the transition to his new role, which began this week.

“It is an honor to continue Marsha’s legacy and lead U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union into the next decade focusing on the financial wellness of our members, partnerships with the community and a companywide commitment to service,” Moore said.
