Snowy slopes beckon: Two more northern New Mexico ski areas open this weekend
Wide open glades that is the Angel Fire Golf Course provide the setting for wintertime cross country skiing.
Angel Fire and Pajarito have announced openings on Friday, Dec. 15 as ski slopes across New Mexico kick off their winter seasons.
If you are thinking of going skiing this season and want to add these places to your list, here are some things to know about each.
Pajarito Mountain
Pajarito is opening a week earlier than anticipated. The mountain has had an overhaul of the snow making system, café, snow school locker rooms and lodging bathrooms have undergone renovations over the summer.
Lift Tickets start at $24
Children 12 and under are eligible for a free Power Kids season pass. The pass is also accepted at Sandia Peak Ski area, Sipapu and other ski areas across the Southwest.

There is a Saturday-only ski camp for kids ages 7-12, called Camp Bluebird.
Learn to Ski Thursdays beginning January 11, and provides a Free two-hour beginner lesson with the purchase of a lift ticket and rentals. The Free lessons are also available every weekday during Spring Break 3/11-3/15.
Angel Fire Resort
Kids ski free opening weekend with the purchase of an adult ticket, two free kids per one adult ticket purchased.
Lift tickets start at $110
Winter Schedule:
9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily Dec. 15, 2023-March 24, 2024; 4 p.m.- 7 p.m night skiing on select nights
