Winter has brought a few bouts of snow to the region.

So far, the snowfall recorded in Albuquerque from Jan. 1 is 2.4 inches, said Scott Overpeck, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, Albuquerque.

Overpeck said Sandia Park has recorded 10 inches, Cedar Crest 13 inches, Tijeras 9 inches. In some areas there was more variability of snowfall, such as Edgewood, which had 3 to 6 inches, Gallup 8 to 14 inches and Raton 3 to 7 inches.

Overpeck said snow totals are slightly behind what we had at this time last year.

"For this time of year, running about average," he said. "Maybe a little bit below, but most areas … right around average."

February's weather outlook forecasts more snow for elevations above 7,000 feet, Overpeck said.

He said areas below 7,000 feet can expect more rain than snow.
