Ryan Green is becoming well versed in the art of balancing tasks.

He also thinks a lot in advance – especially when it’s time to go on tour.

“With the winter holiday shows, it keeps us busy,” he says. “Because the current tour is holiday centric, it leans towards our album ‘On Christmas.’”

Green is on half of Ryanhood. Cameron Hood rounds out the duo. Ryanhood will make a stop in New Mexico for two shows.

The first is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Fusion 708 in Albuquerque. The next night, the duo travels to Santa Fe for a performance at Tumbleroot Brewery & Distillery.

Ryanhood formed 20 years ago in Boston and is currently based out of Tucson.

The duo has released seven full-length albums to date.

Green says the duo’s winter shows have become a holiday tradition over the years.

“We have new stories and the set list changes,” Green says. “A lot of the material comes from ‘On Christmas,’ but we add in new songs each year.”

Green says audiences want to hear the Christmas classics, which the duo does play.

“We want it to have a freshness to it,” he says.

Months ago, Green and Hood began planning logistics for the tour.

“We map it out and think about what if we were in the audience,” he says. “What would we want to see again? That’s the beauty of what we do. We are able to create an atmosphere within the show where people can tap into their holiday memories.”

Green also knows that everyone has a different experience with the holidays, and Ryanhood is aware of it.

“Holidays aren’t fun for everyone,” he says. “This is why we try to keep the entire show flow as smoothly as possible. We want to create new memories with each audience. That’s something to build on. It’s about what Christmas and the holidays mean to you.”

Green says as the duo continues in music, many of the songs Ryanhood has released have taken on new meaning.

“There are certain songs that have a new feeling about them,” Green says. “We’re going to have some songs from records that we haven’t played in awhile. The entire show has an arc and we’re happy to share our stories. We want it to make the performances relatable to the audience and, in return, want the audience to enjoy a new holiday memory.”
