For a decade, Mac Sabbath has been frying up the antics for its live parody metal shows.

Ronald Osbourne on vocals, Slayer MacCheeze on guitar, Grimalice on bass and the Catburglar on drums bring their “dinner rock revolution” to Meow Wolf, 1352 Rufina Circle, in Santa Fe, on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Mike Odd, the band’s manager, who speaks on the band’s behalf, did not want to give too much away when it comes to Mac Sabbath’s performances.

“I’m very anti-movie trailer,” he said. “I think the whole idea of storytelling is getting destroyed with spoilers. I think that it should unfold in front of you. It’s just an incredible theatrical, almost Broadway play style experience, that unfolds in front of you. There’s nothing really like it.”

Odd described the band’s live show as a big production on a smaller scale.

“You could compare it to some bands that are arena rock bands that have a big, theatrical performance and visuals to watch,” he explained. “But it’s squashed down on a club-sized stage. The audience, being involved with something like that, at that close range, and having them interact with you the way that they do is kind of unheard of on this level.”

Odd shared some of the antics that take place on stage.

“(Ron Osbourne’s) got a grill on stage and he’s flipping burgers while he’s singing and it’s really hard to explain what happens with all these characters and all the cool things that happen,” Odd explained.

Mac Sabbath is full of surprises and each live show is an experience that has to be seen to be believed with songs like “Grilled by Death,” “Sweet Beef” and “Supersize.”

“People think that they know what it is by looking at (Mac Sabbath) on the internet,” Odd said. “Every single time that I go do a show with these guys, whether it be fans or promoters or club owners, whoever it is that saw it for the first time, they always say, ‘That was not what I was expecting. I had no idea that it was like this.’ They are all just bowled over at how different it was than they thought that it would be.”

Odd said Meow Wolf is the ideal place for a Mac Sabbath show. The band has played the Santa Fe location one time prior.

“I couldn’t think of a better venue for Mac Sabbath,” he said. “We did it once before and it was just absolutely amazing. Talk about an immersive sort of theatrical experience. Mac Sabbath at Meow Wolf is like nothing that anybody could ever experience.”
