Zip ties hold my world together.

Like duct tape, cable ties or the trademarked Zip-Tie brand, can save many an adventure. The nylon fastening bands with a ratcheting, locking end come in standard lengths from 5 inches to as long as 24 inches. Pulling the cable tight after connecting creates a tight loop.

You can use these fasteners:

To hold together cables.

To connect broken plastic pieces.

To keep loose plastic on fenders attached to your vehicles after mishaps with rocks, plants etc. on the road. (I used them to hold cracked plastic to the vehicle frame many times.)

To hold cables and other engine parts in place after old plastic breaks.

You can buy zip ties or generic cable ties for less than $5 for a pack of 100. Keep a bundle in every vehicle or tool box just in case.

I never can tell which way to attach until I stick the pointed end into the head and try to pull the cable tight.

Expect, if you are like me, to break one or two for each one you try to use. You can trim the cable to size after securing the loop.
