Local fun: Westside Summerfest showcases New Mexico entertainment and vendors

The city is keeping things local for this year’s Westside Summerfest.

The event takes places from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Ventana Ranch Community Park, 10000 Universe Blvd. NW. Free park and ride shuttles will be available at the Central New Mexico Community College’s Westside campus, 10549 Universe Blvd. NW, according to the city’s website. Accessible shuttles will take eventgoers to and from the park throughout the event. Strollers, lawn chairs, canopies and coolers will be allowed on the shuttles. Glass items or alcohol will not be permitted.

Local talent will keep the party going on two stages.

The East Stage will showcase rock music by DK & The Affordables at 5:15 p.m., soothing sounds by Entourage Jazz at 6:30 p.m., Americana and folk music by The High Desert Playboys at 7:45 p.m., and blues and rockabilly music by the Silver Sky Blues Band at 9 p.m.

The West Stage will feature Southwest rock by The Rudy Boy Experiment at 5 p.m., blues tunes by Big K and Blue Train at 6:15 p.m., country music by Nathaniel Krantz at 7:30 p.m., and traditional Latin by Divino at 8:45 p.m.

Listen to the music as you peruse products from many New Mexico vendors at The Shops at Albuquerque Summerfest. Artisan booths offer everything from art to home goods, clothing to jewelry. Vendors include Anka Jewelry Designs, Bee Nice Beauty, Bloomers, Crochet Crafts by Bianca, Desert Dog Designs, Honey Shack, Half Full Designs, NM Metal Art, Nyx’s Nook, Southwest Boujee, Speckle Ware, Squidly Designs, Big Ass Cookies by Otero Lane and Alyssia’s Cakery, according to the city’s website.

Come hungry because there will be plenty of food trucks offering a variety of items. Participating food trucks include Baskin-Robbins, Chilaquick, Craft Q, Dawgs for a Cause, Big Boss Hot Links, Cavita’s Green Taco Machine, Juicy J’s, Loaded Lemon ABQ, Pop Pop’s Italian Ice, Rollin’ In Hot LLC, The Supper Truck and Umami Moto. The family-friendly event will feature plenty of fun and free activities for children.

Adults age 21 and older can sip on tasty, local craft beer, wine and spirits inside The Cantina. Vendors include La Cumbre Brewing Company, Brew Lab 101 Beer & Cider Co., Marble Brewery, Left Turn Distillery, Safe House Distilling Co., Trouble Minds Distilling, Hollow Spirits Distillery, Boxing Bear Brewing Co., Second Street Brewery, Nikle Co., Sheehan Winery, As Above So Below Distillery, Sobremesa Brewery, One Distillery and Mission Winery.
