“Oppenheimer” continues its winning ways.

On Sunday, the New Mexico-filmed “Opphenheimer” went into the night with 13 Critics Choice Award nominations. It was tied in nominations with “Poor Things.”

“Barbie” had the most nominations with 18.

“Oppenheimer” ended up with eight awards by the end of the night.

Robert Downey Jr. picked up best supporting actor in a movie for his role as Lewis Strauss.

During his acceptance speech, Downey decided to read some the reviews he’s received.

“I was thinking this morning, I love critics,” he said. “You know, they’ve given me such beautiful feedback, really just so many great moments, and some of it is so poetic. I just want to share some of their thoughts with you over the years.”

He also thanked his co-stars in the film.

“Oppenheimer” is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.

It follows Oppenheimer’s journey working with the team behind the Manhattan Project as they developed what would become the atomic bomb.

Production on the film began in early 2022 in Los Alamos, Abiquiú, Santa Fe, Belen and Albuquerque.

“Oppenheimer” picked up a win for best picture, where it beat out “Barbie,” “American Fiction,” “The Color Purple,” “The Holdovers,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Maestro,” “Past Lives,” “Poor Things” and “Saltburn.”

“Oppenheimer” also picked up the award for best acting ensemble.

Christopher Nolan was named best director.

Hoyte van Hoytema picked up a win for best cinematography and Jennifer Lame picked up an award for best editing for “Oppenheimer.”

The film also picked up the award for best visual effects.
