'Oppenheimer' gets Feb. 16 streaming date on Peacock
In July, droves of film lovers went out to see “Oppenheimer” in the movie theaters.
Beginning on Feb. 16, the New Mexico-filmed production will be available to stream on Peacock.
The streaming date comes nearly seven months after its initial theater release and nearly three months after it was released on digital and DVD.
“Oppenheimer” is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.
It follows Oppenheimer’s journey working with the team behind the Manhattan Project as they developed what would become the atomic bomb.
Production on the film began in early 2022 in Los Alamos, Abiquiú, Santa Fe, Belen and Albuquerque.
According to Peacock, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” won’t be the only project from the director on the streaming service.
Beginning Feb. 1, “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Dunkirk,” “Inception” and “Memento” will all be available to stream.
“Oppenheimer” is having a great award season so far.
On Jan. 7, “Oppenheimer” picked up five Golden Globes – including best motion picture drama, best director, best male actor drama, best male actor in a supporting role and best original score.
On Jan. 14, “Oppenheimer” picked up eight Critic Choice Awards.
