Stein up: Marblefest 2024 features German style beer, food
Marblefest on Saturday, Aug. 24, will feature German-style beer, music, food and the best dressed dirndl and lederhosen contest. The event will be held at Marble Brewery Downtown.
Prost to a good time at Marblefest 2024.
The event features German-style beer from Marble Brewery and other local breweries, as well as music and food trucks from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Marble Brewery Downtown, 111 Marble Ave. NW.
“I love our big events because they bring our community together to celebrate,” said Amy Levine, events coordinator and philanthropy at Marble Brewery. “We’ve partnered again with several local breweries and we’ll be featuring their German-style lagers in addition to our Marblefest. Our Marblefest is a Bavarian-inspired lager which is available on tap at all locations, as well as six-packs.”
German-style beers from guest breweries will be available in the beer garden on the north lot of Marble Brewery Downtown. The beers are Oktoberfest by Bosque Brewing Company, German Overalls by Ex Novo Brewing Co., OktoBEARfest by Boxing Bear Brewing Co., Oktoberfest by La Cumbre Brewing Co., Festbier by Nexus Brewery, Tractoberfest by Tractor Brewing Co., Das Lager by Sidetrack Brewing Co. and Oktoberfest by Second Street Brewery.
Beer flights, with five, 5-ounce pours of the German-style beers of your choice, will be available for $12.
“That’s something fun,” Levine said. “It seems like it’s been a hit every year. We started doing the flights a couple years ago, and since then, it’s taken off. It’s kind of nice to have everyone’s German-style lagers or German-style inspired lagers in one area where you can try almost all of them.”
Live music will kick off at 2 p.m. with Nathan Fox & Friends. The group will be followed by Trinity Soul at 3:15 p.m., Sweet Roll at 4:30 p.m., JD Nash and The Rash of Cash at 6 p.m., Reviva at 7:30 p.m. and Slums of Harvard at 9 p.m. The north lot will feature DJ Jimmy Djembe at 5 p.m. and DJ Wae Fonkey at 7 p.m.
Food trucks will keep eventgoers fed during the event. Urban Hotdog will be serving from noon to 8 p.m., offerings from New Mex-A-Que will be available from 4 to 11 p.m., and Dagmar’s Specialties will be selling German-style strudels from noon to 6 p.m.
“Each of the food trucks will be creating a special menu item tailored to Oktoberfest, so like a (bratwurst) or Reuben sandwich along those lines,” Levine said. “And then we have a variety of fun contests to keep the energy high.”
Contests include stein holding from 3:15 to 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 5:45 p.m.; best dressed competition from 4:15 to 4:30 p.m. for attendees in a dirndl or in lederhosen; and yodeling from 7 to 7:15 p.m.
“Last year we added yodeling, which is kind of funny,” Levine said. “We did it a little bit early last year, so we decided to hold it a bit later this year to see if people have more courage to do it in front of everybody. That was fun, so we’re going to do that again this year. It’s all about enjoying great beer, good company and creating a festive atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.”
