A lovely as a tree

Step into the forest of “Poetrees” at the Placitas Community Library from Tuesday, Sept. 23, through Oct. 13. The exhibit brings together over 40 artists challenged to create a portrait of a tree. All works are available for purchase, with a portion of sales going towards the library. The Placitas Community Library, 453 Highway 165 in Placitas, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday.

Take a moment

Music in Corrales is bringing TAKE3 and their blend of classical, jazz and rock to the stage at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. Tickets are $30 in advance at musicincorrales.org/tickets, and $35 at the gate, with kids 12 and under free with a paying adult. La Entrada Park is located at 84 W. La Entrada in Corrales.

Crying out

Patricio Tlacaelel Trujillo y Fuentes is performing the one-man show “A Cry in the Desert | Yo Soy Joaquin!” on the Taos Center for the Arts stage at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, and 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21. Tickets are $15-$20, plus fees, at tcataos.org. The TCA is located at 145 Paseo Del Pueblo Norte in Taos.

Marvelous ‘Matilda’

Cardboard Playhouse Theatre Company is bringing “Matilda the Musical” to the University of New Mexico’s Rodey Theatre at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 20, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21. Tickets are $29.50 at unmtickets.evenue.net.

Bold colors

“Sense of Place,” a show from the Pastel Society of New Mexico, is running at the Legends of the West Fine Art Gallery through Sept. 27. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is located at 102 E. Water St. in Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe Opera is bringing a screening of Giacomo Puccini’s “La bohème” to Santa Fe Railyard Park at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21. The Opera in the Park is free. The Railyard Santa Fe is located at 740 Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe.

Digital duo

Video artist ACVilla and keyboardist/vocalist Thollem McDonas are bringing “Stories About People & Everyone Else” and “Obstacle Illusion” to the Guild Cinema at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23. The duo retells stories from their travels through miniature films and live music. Tickets are $10 at guildcinema.com. The Guild Cinema is located at 3405 Central Ave. NE.
