Georgia Santa Maria honored in latest edition of Fixed and Free Quarterly
NEW ISSUE OF POETRY QUARTERLY
The December 2025 issue of Fixed and Free Quarterly has been released.
Billy Brown, the quarterly’s Albuquerque based editor/publisher, wrote in a news release, “This issue is lovingly dedicated to the memory of poet/artist/dear friend Georgia Santa Maria, who began her new journey in early October.
“Georgia was a frequent featured reader at Fixed and Free (readings 2008-2025) and published three dozen pieces in our publications between 2011 and 2025. All are republished in the current quarterly,” Brown wrote. “Also included are almost 20 memorial pieces written by Georgia’s friends.”
Santa Maria was a longtime New Mexico resident.
Besides poetry, the issue contains essays, book reviews, an interview with an Irish band and an announcement of New Mexico’s new Poet Laureate — Manuel Gonzalez.
The quarterly celebrates its community members — writers who have read their work at Fixed and Free readings.
However, recently, the organization has been inviting guest writers to submit one piece per issue that was not read at a Fixed and Free reading.
For more information about Fixed and Free or to obtain a copy of the quarterly contact Brown at 505-401-8139 or email him at welbert53@aol.com.
