Albuquerque 911 unavailable after construction crews cut fiber optic line

Albuquerque emergency lines 911 and 242-COPS are down after a fiber optic line was cut by construction crews Wednesday.

"Approximately 400 feet of fiber optic line needs to be replaced," Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson Rebecca Atkins in an update around 8:30 p.m. "Crews are estimating the repairs will be complete between 12:00-2:00 a.m."

People trying to call the police are being rerouted to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office dispatch, she said.

Atkins said BCSO will be sending the calls to APD so officers can respond to emergencies.

She said the APD app is still available so non-emergency incidents can be reported.
