APD ID several recent homicide victims

Police have identified several people killed in separate incidents over the past two months in Albuquerque.

Gilbert Gallegos, an Albuquerque Police Department spokesman, said the deaths of Fercendo Coho, 34, Brittany Geter, 30, Joseph Griego, 43, Angel Alexis-Ibarra, 20, and Rudolph Garcia, 64, are being investigated as homicides.

No arrests have been reported in any of the cases. They are:

  • On July 21, officers responded to a shooting near Central and Tramway and found Coho fatally shot.
  • On July 22, police responded to a shooting near Central and Tramway and found Geter dead.
  • On July 27, officers were dispatched to a call about a man being shot and found Griego fatally injured.
  • On Aug. 15, police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex near Menaul and Eubank NE, finding Alexis-Ibarra dead and three others wounded.
  • On Aug. 21, officers responded to reports of a body inside a home near Wyoming and Central and found Garcia dead inside the residence.

This year, the Albuquerque Police Department has investigated 70 homicides. By this time last year, the department had investigated 87.

There have been 12 homicides that APD has deemed justified in 2023, according to department data. Those cases will get a final determination from the District Attorney’s Office.
