A single-vehicle rollover killed two people and closed eastbound Interstate 40 on Saturday afternoon near Route 66 Casino Hotel.

Debris from the crash was cleared and I-40 eastbound was reopened by 5 p.m., according to Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jayme Gonzales.

She said deputies were called to the crash around 12:50 p.m. at mile marker 140 on eastbound I-40.

She said a vehicle rolled over and two people inside were killed while others were being evaluated by first responders.

Gonzales said, in addition to all eastbound lanes, the crash shut down a single lane of westbound I-40.

No other details on the crash were provided.
