Body discovered at abandoned building in Española
The Española Fire Department discovered a body while responding to a structural fire at an abandoned building.

A body was found at an abandoned residence early Sunday morning, according to a social media post from the Española Fire Department.
Around 3 a.m., firefighters responded to reports of a structural fire at an abandoned residential property on the 800 block of Ash Loop, north of Santo Nino, according to Pablo Montoya, fire marshal for Española.
Montoya said the residence, which is condemned, was well-known by law enforcement for drugs and stolen property. Firefighters discovered the body during their initial search.
The body, which has not been identified, will go through an autopsy Monday, Montoya said. The Española fire marshal, State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are currently investigating.
