Fire in Northeast Heights displaces almost 20
Cause of apartment fire remains under investigation, Fire Rescue says
A Northeast Albuquerque apartment fire resulted in 18 people being displaced on Saturday.
Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to the call at the Academy Heights Apartments, in the 5600 block of Wyoming, near Academy, around 12:20 p.m.
Arriving firefighters “reported an exterior fire that spread to the structure and traveled to the roof line,” AFR said in a social media post. “Fire conditions spread rapidly within the void space and a second alarm was dispatched for additional resources.”
No one was reported injured, but six apartments were damaged. The displaced residents were assisted by the Red Cross and property management, Fire Rescue said.
Investigators are trying to determine the cause and origin of the fire, according to AFR.
