Consider it the cold before the warm, as Albuquerque and other parts of the state saw some snow on Wednesday, but highs could reach the upper 60s in just a few days.

Parts of Taos County received 3 inches of snow, while 3.6 inches of snowfall was recorded outside of Grants on Wednesday.

Closer to home, the Albuquerque International Sunport received 0.2 inches, National Weather Service technician Troy Marshall said.

This month, he said, the airport has received about an inch of snow, which is 0.4 inches less than normal for January.

The chance of snow remains in the city until Thursday morning before it clears up and temperatures begin a steady climb.

Thursday’s high is expected to be in the upper 40s with wind gusts of 35 mph. Other parts of the state could see stronger winds, including Clines Corners with 55 mph gusts, Marshall said.

Temperatures in Albuquerque will creep into the upper 50s on Friday and the mid-60s on Sunday and Monday. The record highs for Feb. 2 and Feb. 3 are 68 degrees and 66 degrees, respectively.

“We’re definitely a lot warmer than we should be,” Marshall said.
