Veterans Day is this Saturday, honoring veterans who have sacrificed much to keep our country safe.

In Albuquerque, the day will be celebrated with parades, live music and cemetery stories.

Veterans Day Appreciation Breakfast

City Councilor Klarissa Peña, the West Central Community Development Group, and Garcia Automotive will host veterans and active-duty military to enjoy a free appreciation breakfast for Veterans Day on the patio at El Charritos restaurant.

Albuquerque Veterans Day Ceremony

The event will kick off at 9 a.m. with a musical prelude from Dukes of Albuquerque Concert Band. Various organizations will be at the event to share information about their veteran benefits.

LOCATION: New Mexico Veterans Memorial Park, 1100 Louisiana SE

TIME: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

COST: Free


Rio Rancho Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony

This parade will feature floats, marching bands, veteran groups and more.

LOCATION:Veterans Memorial Park, 950 Pinetree

TIME: 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday

COST: Free


Veterans Day Observation and Cemetery Stories at the Historic Fairview Cemetery

This event will honor U.S. veterans, roughly 550 of whom are buried at the cemetery.

The event will start at 10:30 a.m. with a flag ceremony and wreath placement.

The New Mexico Humanities Council and Historic Fairview Cemetery will present Cemetery Stories in memory of veterans.

LOCATION: 700 Yale SE

TIME: 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

COST: $10 for Cemetery Stories, tickets can be purchased online.


Indian Pueblo Cultural Center Veterans Commemoration

The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center will host its Veterans Day Commemoration featuring guest speakers including U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez, perfomances by the Pueblo Dance Group and Native artisans selling hand-crafted artwork.

TIME: 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

COST: Free for veterans and IPCC members, or included with museum admission.


Veterans Day Relaxed Night

Join the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science for the Relaxed Night event, aiming to give visitors a lower sensory evening to take time to appreciate veterans and military families for their service and sacrifice. This event is for those who may get overwhelmed by crowds, noises or flashing lights.

TIME: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday

ABQ BioPark $1 day for veterans

In honor of Veterans Day, the ABQ BioPark is offering $1 entry to veterans and up to five family members when a valid military or veteran ID is presented at the gate. The special admission is good for a one-time-use at the Zoo or the Aquarium/Botanic Garden. The Zoo recently opened a new Asia exhibit featuring snow lepards, Malayan tigers, Steller's sea eagles, siamangs and orangutans.
