Man and woman arrested after allegedly shooting at NMSP officer
They were arrested in Fort Sumner, authorities said
A man and a woman accused of shooting at a New Mexico State Police officer during a traffic stop on Monday have been arrested in Fort Sumner.
Jovan Martinez, 39, and Makaela Johnson, 26, were arrested on Wednesday afternoon by the NMSP Tactical Team with help from other law enforcement agencies, according to a New Mexico State Police social media post.
It is unclear how they were found and whether charges have been filed.
"We extend our gratitude to our law enforcement partners for their support and to the residents of Fort Sumner for their vigilance and cooperation throughout this incident," police said.
At 5:25 p.m. Monday, New Mexico State Police said a man and a woman were on the run after allegedly shooting at an officer off U.S. 285 by mile marker 185 outside Vaughn.
The officer was OK, police said.
