The New Mexico State Police is looking for a man and a woman who allegedly shot at an officer during a traffic stop in southeast New Mexico on Monday afternoon.

The officer is OK, police said in a social media post.

At 5:25 p.m., police a man and a woman were on the run after shooting at the officer off U.S. 285 by mile marker 185 "around the Fort Sumner area".

"Be on the lookout for a new gray Kia sedan with Texas plate XMX8165," the post states. "Do not approach. Call 911 immediately, if seen. More to follow."

In an email, New Mexico State Police spokesperson Wilson Silver said, "Once we learn more, we will send out a news release."
