Teen Center Coming in May
By Journal Staff Report
Crews began demolishing part of the old Ice House strip club Tuesday as part of a plan to turn it into an arts and entertainment center for teens.
"Warehouse 508," at 508 First NW, will feature music, theater and poetry performances, among other events.
The $800,000 renovation, paid for by city government, is expected to be done in late May.
Drew Stuart, executive director of New Mexico Xtreme, which will run the center, said he hopes to provide teens with a safe, supervised place to hang out.
"It's a great building," he said. "The venue couldn't be better."
