Motorcyclist dies in crash in Northeast Albuquerque
A motorcyclist collided with a car in Northeast Albuquerque on Saturday afternoon, suffering fatal injuries.
The crash happened around 3 p.m. at Menaul and Jane NE, the Albuquerque Police Department said late Saturday. Police did not name the person killed.
Based on the preliminary investigation, a person on a Triumph motorcycle was going west on Menaul as the driver in a Honda Civic was waiting in the left-turn bay.
"Witnesses reported the motorcycle was traveling behind another vehicle and was not clearly visible," APD said. "At one point, the motorcycle switched lanes multiple times."
Witnesses also told police that the motorcycle was speeding.
APD said as the car began turning left, the motorcycle crashed into the passenger side of the car.
"The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene," the police department said.
APD said the investigation is ongoing.
