North Domingo Baca Park to host Father's Day skate event Saturday
Grab your skates and your dad or other father figure because the city of Albuquerque is hosting its first-ever Father’s Day skate event on Saturday at North Domingo Baca Skate Park.
Will Bustos, city skate park manager, said the free event from 9 a.m. to noon is age-inclusive for everyone of all skating levels.
“We want to get the whole family involved,” Bustos said. “We want to really push people to get outside and enjoy the skate,” he said.
There are more skate events planned throughout the year, including a Fourth of July evening skate event, allowing skaters to shred the ramps while enjoying fireworks.
The skate day event will have a food truck on site to serve those attending. There will also be a DJ on site. Bustos said he will be giving away free Parks and Rec “swag” to those who attend the event. Bustos said it will likely be shirts, bags and beanies along with other accessories.
Skaters of all types are welcome, including but not limited to scooters, inline skates, skateboards, BMX bikes and roller skates.
“The previous skate events we’ve had have been good, but we’re hoping to get a larger turnout,” Bustos said. “I hope we get a lot of people to come and enjoy the skate parks.”
North Domingo Baca Skate Park is at 8301 Wyoming NE.
