Plane crash near Roswell leaves one injured

A plane crash in Chaves County left one person injured, the Chaves County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
Deputies were dispatched to Chicasaw Road, roughly 30 minutes away from Roswell, in reference to a crash, according to a news release from the department. Deputies learned that a private plane had "crash landed" in a field off the road.
"The pilot, who was the only soul on board, has been taken to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the crash," the release states.
Authorities did not say what the cause of the crash was. The National Transportation Safety Board and New Mexico State Police are investigating.
