Santa Fe Police investigating alleged armed robbery at UMB Bank branch on Saint Michaels Drive
Male suspect accused of stealing several thousand dollars after threatening bank teller, FBI notified
SANTA FE — Police are looking for a male suspect accused of stealing several thousand dollars from a UMB Bank branch on Saint Michaels Drive Tuesday morning after threatening a bank teller and claiming he had a firearm.
Officers with Santa Fe Police Department responded to the bank at 1592 Saint Michaels Drive after receiving a report of the alleged armed robbery after 10 a.m., according to a press release from the agency.
Surveillance video showed a male suspect entering the bank at around 10:02 a.m. wearing a black beanie, white mask, dark jacket, gray slacks and brown boots.
Responding officers learned the suspect approached a bank teller and said, "Give me your hundreds, fifties and twenties." The teller said the suspect also threatened them, stating, "I have a gun, give me the money or else," according to police.
Officers canvassed the area and recovered multiple other surveillance video recordings that showed the suspect fleeing UMB Bank westbound on Saint Michaels Drive toward College Shopping Plaza before going out of sight behind Planet Fitness.a
Bank robberies are federal crimes in the U.S. Santa Fe Police notified the FBI of the robbery and is actively investigating the incident.
