Santa Fe Police investigating homicide on Siler Road
One man dead, officers identify possible suspect in first publicized homicide of 2026
SANTA FE — Police began investigating a homicide that left one man dead near the intersection of Siler Road and Industrial Road Thursday morning, according to a news release from Santa Fe Police Department.
Police have not released the identity of the deceased, but investigators said they had identified a "possible suspect" and believed there was no remaining threat to public safety.
The incident prompted a large response from public safety agencies in the City Different late Wednesday night. Police temporarily closed the area as specialists processed the scene for evidence.
The investigation remains ongoing. Deputy Chief Ben Valdez said an update would be issued later in the day, including a notice when the area will reopen.
The incident marks the first publicized homicide this year in Santa Fe, which saw eight in 2025 and five total homicides in 2024, according to Santa Fe Police.
This is a developing story.
