Teen accused of killing father in Northeast Albuquerque
Police: Girl admitted to stabbing Robert McCall, 49
A teenage girl was arrested in connection to the stabbing death of her father in Northeast Albuquerque on Sunday.
Shaianne Kasero-McCall, 16, is charged with an open count of murder. Kasero-McCall has been booked at the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center, Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos said in a news release on Sunday evening.
At 9:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 12000 block of Skyline Road, near Interstate 40 and Juan Tabo NE, where they found Robert McCall, 49, stabbed in the neck inside an apartment. He was taken to a local hospital where he died, Gallegos said.
Kasero-McCall told police she stabbed McCall when an argument between her parents turned physical, according to police.
The mother told detectives that McCall had been abusive in the past, and he was intoxicated and pushed her down inside the apartment on Saturday, Gallegos said.
Gallegos added, "Detectives noted that (the mother) and Shaianne Kasero-McCall had different versions of the dispute that led to the stabbing."
Kasero-McCall told police McCall was “grappling” with the mother during the stabbing, but the mother told police she was in a separate room and did not see the incident, he said.
"Shaianne Kasero-McCall never stated that she was in fear for herself nor (her mother)," Gallegos said. "She said she wanted her father’s abusive actions to stop."
After consulting with the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office, he said, detectives decided to charge Kasero-McCall.
