OPINION: Speak Up!

The Dems just grabbed defeat from the hands of victory. Their battle to preserve health care resulted in blue wins on Election Day. Voters blamed the GOP for the SHUTDOWN. Dems showed that they put the country through hell for no good reason by giving up the fight. Shame on my Democrats. JP

The question should not be: Why did the state buy over 300 GAS POWERED CARS? The question should be why does the state need over 300 cars? KP

A man who considers himself a conservative demolishes an entire WING OF THE WHITE HOUSE. We’d all do well to consider the root word of conservative, which is conserve, a word that embodies values and has a spirit to be cherished. RM

It seems that something is wrong with a country where 1 in 8 citizens are on the PUBLIC DOLE. This is where the U.S. stands today. I see “Help Wanted” signs in business windows. Many of these people could get jobs but maybe they do not wish to work. KKW

So the president wants a THIRD TERM. Let’s even the playing field. President Trump vs. President Obama. Follow the script and times of all debates. That should make their astounding views and experience known to voters. Let America decide in an honest election. GK

Mayor Keller is moving to add more SPEED CAMERAS to ABQ streets. Do these cameras check for a valid drivers license, registration, warrants? No they don’t. Does the offender have to appear in court? No. Does it impact their auto insurance? No. Final question, Is the program profitable? MD

Crime, violence and HOMELESSNESS are not Albuquerque problems! They are national problems created by the chaos, violence and a high cost of living for the low- and moderate-income people created by Trump and his Cabinet. EN

TAXPAYER HANDOUTS should be restricted to the states. Hopefully, those tied to the federal golden goose have come to realize that the goose sometimes doesn’t honk. We should take care of our own within our own boundaries instead of relying on the partisan and corrupt whims of the D.C. players. GH

New Mexico Republican Party Chairwoman Amy Barela is beyond the pale claiming that Democrats played chess with SNAP during the shutdown. Barela apparently was perfectly happy to hold hungry children and seniors hostage unless Democrats agree to essentially kill the ACA by making premiums unaffordable. Honestly, madam, the projection is your game! RL

PRESIDENT TRUMP regularly claims to be the least racist man around. Yet, his government has removed displays about Black soldiers at a U.S. military cemetery in Europe, has ended refugee possibilities for people from countries whose citizens are predominately people of color and praised known racists. Non-racist, really? AF

As a lifelong independent, I will not vote again for any of the N.M. Democratic sheep who voted to hurt N.M. residents in the SHUTDOWN. In lockstep with coastal elites? LAH

TRUMP and Republicans think we’re stupid. They keep insisting prices are down and everything is great. Those of us who actually go shopping and pay attention know differently. When will the media hold them accountable for their lies? JH

Trump continues to disable constraints against measures for him to seize power on many fronts. He HALTED CRYPTO INVESTIGATIONS and Justice Department public integrity prosecutions. He rescinded ethics rules against conflicts of interest and fired federal inspectors general. The Supreme Court has even granted him immunity. Impeach him! WS

Trump is urging AG Bondi to investigate EPSTEIN’S ties to Clinton and other political foes. Another distraction to go after those who oppose him. One wonders if he is included in that investigation. The DOJ’s stated mission is “to enforce federal laws neutrally and impartially, without favoritism or political influence.” PP

The N.M. delegation to Washington is up-in-arms about the slowness of FEMA’S slow claims action in the devastating wildfire, yet each and every one of them have no qualms in assisting their Democratic cohorts in keeping the government shut down for more than 40 days. How disgusting. AR

Trump has insisted that foreign countries pay for the TARIFFS, but then he drops tariffs on several food items because of rising inflation. To our Republican friends: Which one is it? Do the foreign countries pay or do we pay when tariffs are imposed? DS

Emera wants to sell NMGASCO to a Louisiana venture capital firm. They say no rate hikes or layoffs. But the new owner is not obligated to honor anything. ML

It seems to escape everyone that we need young, eager-to-work IMMIGRANTS (like most of our forefathers) in order to take care of an aging population. Receive them with open arms, educate them, let them work and pay taxes! IV

I applaud the QUIRKY BOOKS’ compassion while also insisting they play fair with adjacent properties and public health. Allowing homeless encampments to exist without regulations and sanitation will only get worse, and it will expand. They believes they will escape the eventuality of thousands of other encampments. They will not. AH
