TRUMP KENNEDY CENTER, what's next? The Trump Washington Monument, the Trump Lincoln Memorial? The Trump Arlington Cemetery? And so it goes with the egotistical moron. I just can't understand what prompted people to vote for the con artist a second time. CE

We must not be fooled by the interstate medical compacts proposed by legislators. It might allow better access to medical care through a telehealth system, but the real issue is medical MALPRACTICE REGULATION. Until legislators do what's right and fix this issue, we are only rearranging chairs on the Titanic. GH

The law that Congress passed said the DOJ had to release all of the EPSTEIN FILES by midnight on Dec. 19. Instead, Trump's DOJ decided to disobey the law and release about 10%, with many whole pages redacted. I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. Congress, do something. JH

Regarding "OPINION: Chief Medina leaving APD better than he found it" (Dec. 21 Journal): CHIEF MEDINA, congrats on retirement. Leading a fractious department with a history of bad acting has been a heavy burden. But as Jeff Tucker, retired editor, says, "Medina leaves the APD better off." If only we could say the same of Tucker, who always weaves retributive snark in his writing. RL

Regarding "OPINION: Keller should hire another Hispanic or female police chief" (Dec. 22 Journal): Jeff Tucker’s column states “Keller should hire another Hispanic or female POLICE CHIEF." It should be the the most qualified candidate! Race and sex should not matter. KP

Vice President Vance declared that this is a CHRISTIAN NATION and always will be. I suggest he re-read the Constitution which does not mention Christianity, and also forbids the establishment of a government religion. He should also visit a national military cemetery and see the religious symbols of many faiths. AF

The unmitigated gall of Donald Trump, adding his name to the JFK MEMORIAL CENTER for the Arts. To compound the insult, his press secretary insinuated that JFK would be pleased with the change. I don't think so. This is also an illegal act. EJG

Regarding " OPINION: Our utilities belong to our people — not Wall Street" (Dec. 20 Journal): Harold Pope is absolutely correct that selling PNM AND NM GAS CO. to private equity firms, which exist to serve shareholders rather than the public interest, would be a terrible thing for New Mexican households and small businesses. Let's shoot instead for majority public ownership of both energy monopolies. ST

I am of the opinion that when permits for construction of DATA CENTER are issued we should also issue a site permit to build a nuclear reactor to supply their electricity needs. Sell surplus electricity to PNM. DE

Trump says he will drastically reduce DRUG PRICES. “We’re gonna get ‘em down 1,000%, 600%, 500%, 1,500%.” And, “[t]his is something that nobody else can do.” Wonderful! New Mexico doesn't want to turn over VOTER DATA to the federal government to look for fraud. What if the federal government said, if you don't turn it over, your votes will not be counted in the next federal election? Seems fair. JRM

HEALTH CARE cannot be a for-profit proposition! We need a single-payer government-run system. For profit health care cuts costs to patients while cutting salaries of doctors and nurses and claiming that they are decreasing health care costs while increasing their own corporate salaries and millions lobbying congress.
