OPINION : Speak Up!

Thanks to PRESIDENT TRUMP, war has replaced the Olympics as our daily dose of reality TV. Tougher competition, one in which the spectators die for being close to the events. Hundreds dead now but the combatants will surely create thousands more. All losers. No podium, no medals, no national anthem. TW

This is why moral courage matters on newspaper editorial boards. A United States commander argued that Trump was “ANOINTED BY JESUS to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth" and that the Iran war is “part of God's plan.” BF

I'll keep it simple for the ANTI-WAR PROTESTERS. In the near future Iran develops a nuclear weapon. They now command total control over the Middle East. If Israel provokes them, maybe Iran drops it on Israel. Then life as we know it is over. Simple enough? SW

Surely Trump will earn the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE now that he has stopped another war in Iran. Cuba and Greenland are next. We should have seen this coming when Trump renamed the Department of Defense the Department of War. BB

President Trump has claimed that Iran posed a huge threat to the United States. However, just a few days before attacking Iran, KASH PATEL fired the FBI agents who specialized in Iranian terrorist threats. Either Iran wasn't such a threat, or we have another example of huge government incompetence. AF

The U.S. WAR ON IRAN is illegal: It's a violation of the UN Charter: “Members shall refrain ... from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state." Our war of aggression against Iran is also a blatant violation of the U.S. Constitution, which grants Congress sole authority to declare war. WS

Sen. Lindsey Graham says Trump intends to go after CUBA next. Will nobody stop this man? JH

Trump is no match for Netanyahu, who is leading Trump into a war we don't need nor want. But it's a good distraction from Trump’s EPSTEIN SCANDAL. Trump is a master of deception and lies to play on his MAGA followers. EN

What Americans don't like about PRESIDENT TRUMP: The economy. The racism. The cheating on his wives. The attacks on very young women. The draft dodging. The graft. The greed. The attacks on peaceful immigrants. And oh yeah ... the war. DZ

All five members of NM's congressional delegation criticized Trump’s directed attack on Iran without congressional preapproval. However Democratic Presidents Clinton, Obama and Biden sought no CONGRESSIONAL PREAPPROVAL before attacks on Bosnia, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Iraq. CS

To the people who complained that most members of NM’s congressional delegation weren't representing us because they didn't attend Trump's STATE OF THE UNION address: Those of us who decry the wannabe-dictator president feel our delegation did the right thing by staying away. And rest assured, they have already heard his self-aggrandizement aplenty. MW

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROM isn't even a real thing. It's a cynical phrase made up to belittle and silence Democrats. If anyone is deranged it's POTUS himself. Or maybe it describes POTUS' followers who believe he cares about them or is fit to be anything but corrupt and self-absorbed. MY

PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS promised affordability for all but delivered it only in their speeches. Universal just means everyone’s equally frustrated! SR

Shame on the City Council for submitting to the race hustle of creating an AFRICAN AMERICAN ADVISORY BOARD. Having lived here 53 years, I know that this city is not racist. What may happen in other cities does not reflect what happens here. Quit painting us with a broad brush. GH

Stephen A. Smith’s description of politicians: “We have people in Congress who won't read the bills, don’t know what’s in them, and frankly, don't care. Their only job description now is: 'If they want it, I’m against it.' That’s not leadership. That’s a circus." This fits NM POLITICIANS perfectly and this is what keeps NM ranked 50th in anything good. EL

MINORITY LEADER ARMSTRONG, I hear you, girlfriend. The NM Legislature needs to put families first in everything. Problem is, you lost the votes of thousands of moderates because of the NM Republican Party's adoration of corrupt Trump. Forget any help at the ballot box until you thoroughly repudiate him. ML

For everyone who is angry about the statistics shown in the "ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT" about schools, look at pages 24 and 25 where the statistics for NM International School and Mountain Mahogany School are displayed. How to explain the differences? Look at attendance. We can't teach students who don't show up! MB

NM is last or close to last in just about every area compared to the other states. Now our longtime Democratic-controlled LEGISLATURE wants a salary of $64,000, based on median household income while Bernalillo County median individual income is around $40,000 Only one Republican voted for this. MBB

A SALARY FOR LAWMAKERS? OK fine, as long as the lawmakers in the House and Senate are not working lawyers or doctors and have not been lobbyists in the previous five years. DC

The city of ABQ’s website lists a goal for 80% of all calls to 311 to be answered in less than 30 seconds, yet when I call the wait is often nearly 10 minutes. BV
