Migrant rush thinned out before Title 42’s end
Title 42, the health decree allowing U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials to quickly expel asylum seekers on the southern U.S. border, expired on May 11. Under this policy, a person crossing illegally into the U.S. could be expelled multiple times without a fine or long-term banishment.
