Aggies hoops: NMSU men rank third in coaches poll, women ranked 10th
The New Mexico State Aggies were picked to finish third in the preseason Conference USA men's basketball coaches poll with senior guard Jemel Jones, a transfer from Cal State Bakersfield, earning a spot on the 10-player preseason All-Conference team.
Head coach Jason Hooten's squad finished in a tie for fourth in CUSA last season.
Eleven of the league's 12 coaches voted for Liberty, coached by former UNM Lobos head coach Ritchie McKay, to repeat as league champion while Kennessaw State, and CUSA Preseason Player of the Year pick Simeon Cottle, earned the other first place vote.

NMSU women tabbed 10th
The NMSU Aggies women's basketball team was picked 10th in the 12-team Conference USA preseason women's basketball coaches poll, which was released Wednesday.
No Aggie was selected to the preseason all-conference team.
Louisiana Tech (128 total points) and Liberty (125) each received five first place votes with third place Middle Tennessee State getting the other two.
