Bosque boys basketball wins huge game

The high school basketball regular season ends on Saturday, and some districts are hashing out the top of the standings.
District 5-3A was one of them.
Thursday night at Bosque School, the Bobcats, ranked No. 7 in the 3A boys coaches poll, defeated visiting Sandia Prep 59-31 to lock up the regular-season title in 5-3A and with it the top seed in next week’s district tournament.
Bosque is 18-7 overall and 7-1 in district. The 10th-ranked Sundevils, who won the first league matchup against the Bobcats, are 13-12 and 6-2. Bosque School outscored Sandia Prep 19-4 in the pivotal third quarter.
Junior shooting guard Jordan Kruft had a team-high 16 points for Bosque School. Kruft missed the first game against Sandia Prep.
The key 5A boys game Friday night will be at Santa Fe High, as the Demons play host to Sandia.
The Matadors lead Santa Fe and La Cueva by a single game in the District 2-5A standings. There remains the possibility of a two-way tie for first between Sandia and the Demons, and also a three-way tie if Santa Fe wins, and La Cueva defeats Manzano on Friday.
