Ice Wolves fight to remain in the Robertson Cup Playoffs

Ice Wolves vs Brahmas

The Ice Wolves face the Brahmas at Outpost Ice Arena on Thursday with a chance to force a game four in the semifinal round of the Robertson Cup.

Published Modified

The Ice Wolves will host the Lone Star Brahmas at the Outpost Ice Arenas this Thursday and Friday for games three and four of the South Division best-of-five Semifinals.

New Mexico needs to win both games to have a shot at taking the series to a game five, which would take place back on Brahmas home-ice in Fort Worth Texas.

A game five victory would mean advancing to the division finals.

LAST WEEK: Over the weekend, New Mexico made the trip to Fort Worth for games one and two of the series, ultimately dropping both. Game one ended in a 4-0 Brahmas shutout. Game two saw only one goal from the Ice Wolves, netted by Andy Earl late into the third period. The game ended 4-1 Brahmas.

RECORDS: Exactly one year ago, the Ice Wolves were in the same position; down two games to the Brahmas and battling to hold onto their playoff position.

Last season the Ice Wolves secured a game three win in double overtime forcing a game four. Lone Star walked away with the win, ending the Ice Wolves season.

This week is a chance at redemption.

PLAYERS TO KNOW: Despite a hard weekend at Lone Star, goalie Jackson Fuller is a force for the Ice Wolves between the pipes. Appearing in 40 regular season games, he compiled a record of 25-10-2 with 1.915 goals against average, securing his NCAA Division I commitment to Northern Michigan University.

DETAILS: The team plays at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday (if necessary). Single game tickets are available for purchase starting at $27.50 for reserved stadium chair seats and $15 for bleacher seats.
