Ice Wolves host Lone Star Brahmas, the reigning league champion

The New Mexico Ice Wolves play at home at the Outpost Ice Arenas this weekend against the reigning Robertson Cup Champions, the Lone Star Brahmas. The two teams split their last series on Dec. 20 and 21 at Lone Star (North Richland Hills, Texas). This Friday’s game will feature a puck giveaway and Saturday is jersey night.
LAST WEEK: The Ice Wolves played four games in six days. They hosted the El Paso Rhinos for New Year’s matchups Dec. 30 and 31 and the Shreveport Mudbugs Jan. 3 and 4, splitting both series. The Ice Wolves skated past the Rhinos 7-5 before losing 4-3 the next day. Against the Mudbugs, the Ice Wolves recorded a 4-0 shutout Friday night but a 2-1 loss on Saturday.
RECORDS AND STANDINGS: The Ice Wolves currently sit in seventh place in the North American Hockey League’s South Division with a 14-17-1-2 record. The Brahmas are ranked second in the South Division, with a 23-6-1-2 record having won their last five games in a row.
PLAYERS TO KNOW: Ethan Hull, out of River Falls, Wis., currently leads the Ice Wolves with eight goals and 14 assists, totaling 22 points. Andy Earl trails behind him with 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points.
