Lobos or Aggies? Vote which team will win more football games this season?

UNM Lobo football vs NM State Aggies

UNM’s De’John Rogers, left, is dragged down by New Mexico State’s Marcus Buckley after intercepting a pass in the second quarter of their game Sept. 15, 2018, at Aggie Memorial Stadium Las Cruces.

Published Modified

While a handful of college football teams played this past Saturday, including the New Mexico State Aggies in losing their home opener to UMass, this week is considered across the country as the official "Week 1" start to the 2023 college football season.

Both the UNM Lobos, who start their season Saturday at Texas A&M, and the Aggies, who look to bounce back from Saturday's disappointing loss to UMass by hosting FCS Western Illinois, have 12 more games this season, including against each other on Sept. 16 in Albuquerque.

Most voters a week ago felt confident in our poll (see results at bottom of page) that the Lobos would win four or more games. While the Aggies were predicted to win more than that entering the season, that was before Saturday's 41-30 home loss to UMass. NMSU entered the game as a 7-point favorite.

Did that game change your mind on the Aggies?

Do the schedules each team play matter to you? (You can view each team's full season schedule below the poll before you vote.)

For now, the question is easy: Which team wins more games this season?

Last week's poll

Last week, we asked for an over/under prediction for the Lobos' season based on the Las Vegas oddsmakers setting the team's win total at 3.5.

By a little less than a 2-to-1 margin (64.1% to 35.9%), voters felt the Lobos would win four or more games, going OVER that win total.
