UNM football: Starting corner, safety listed as questionable against UNLV
New Mexico cornerback Abraham Williams (2) and Utah State Braden Pegan (11) battle for a pass during an Oct. 25 game at University Stadium in Albuquerque. Williams is listed as questionable for Saturday’s game against UNLV.
New Mexico starting cornerback Abraham Williams is questionable for Saturday’s game at UNLV, per an availability report released Thursday by the Mountain West.
The 6-foot-1, 186-pound Idaho transfer has made 22 total tackles in seven starts with UNM this season. He previously missed a 41-25 loss at Boise State on Oct. 11 with an undisclosed injury suffered the previous week against San Jose State.
Starting nickel safety Caleb Coleman is also listed as questionable on UNM’s initial report, the first of two released by the league prior to Saturday’s game. The 6-2, 191-pound Texas State transfer has made 26 total tackles over eight games this season.
If neither Williams or Coleman are available, cornerback Frankie Edwards III (24 total tackles) and safety Ky’Won McCray (17 total tackles) are expected to start in place of the two.
Starting right guard Richard Pearce is not listed on the report after he returned to practice this week. The 6-2, 311-pound redshirt senior and team captain missed UNM’s last two games with an undisclosed injury.
COMMITTED: Offensive lineman Joshua Meisner has committed to UNM, he announced via social media Thursday.
A 6-3, 270-pound senior at Salpointe Catholic (Ariz.) High School, Meisner was offered as a preferred walk-on by UNM in June. Seven commitments for the Lobos’ class of 2026 have now come from Arizona.
Blessed to announce my commitment to the University of New Mexico. I’d like to thank my family and coaches that helped me along the way,” Meisner posted on X. “And thank you to (offensive line coach Cody Booth) and (Jason Eck) for this opportunity.”
UNM now has 22 commits in the class of 2026.
QUESTIONABLE: UNLV wide receiver Jaden Bradley is also questionable for Saturday’s game, per the Rebels’ availability report. The 6-4, 195-pound senior has made 29 catches for 528 yards and three touchdowns this season; all three marks lead the Rebels.
